Heat wave continues for many across Massachusetts

BOSTON — After the brutal winter we had, Mother Nature is telling us summer is here.

We are heading into day four of a heat wave and with temperatures into the nineties, people are trying to find ways to stay cool and safe.

Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency says with temperatures dangerously hot, people need to stay hydrated and check on children, the elderly and pets.

The city of Boston has declared a heat emergency. Cooling centers and pools are open throughout the city as we head into the 4th of July holiday.

Anyone can cool off inside these locations, but if you're not a member, you must complete an enrollment form to use pools.

Aside from Boston, many towns and cities are opening cooling centers. Auburn, Brockton, Lawrence, Salem and Westborough are some of the places offering a site to cool down. Many town pools are also extending their hours.

A reminder to everyone to never leave people or pets in a parked car.

REMEMBER: It's going to be WICKED HOT today! Don't forget to check the back seat before getting out of your vehicle!
