School districts across Mass. to resume reporting positive COVID cases among students, staff

BOSTON — School superintendents across the Commonwealth have been informed that the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will again mandate school districts to report positive COVID-19 cases among students and staff.

School districts were told that they would be required to resume the reporting of positive cases starting the week of Sept. 13.

That data would give the state’s Education Commissioner, Jeffrey Riley, more information to assess the conditions at schools across the state.

That information would be available from DESE in weekly reports.
