Boston pushes to increase vaccine, booster rates with series of clinics Saturday

BOSTON — The city of Boston is hosting several COVID-19 vaccine and booster shot clinics Saturday. People can book an appointment online, but walk-ins are welcome.

The first clinic runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Martha Eliot Health Center on Bickford St. in Jamaica Plain. Another clinic runs from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the BCYF Community Center at 339 Dudley St.

Walk-ins are welcome, and Pfizer’s vaccine will be given out. People 5 years and older are encouraged to attend. There will also be a vaccine clinic from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Brooke Charter School on Horace St.

The Pfizer vaccine will be available to people at least five years old. Finally, there will be a clinic at the Prince Hall Grand Lodge on Washington St. from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The current average positive test rate in Boston is 6.7% which is above the statewide average positive test rate of about 5.2%.

Vaccination rates throughout Boston vary from neighborhood to neighborhood. The South End is leading the way, with nearly 80% of residents fully vaccinated. The least vaccinated neighborhood is Mattapan, where just over 50% of residents are fully-vaccinated.
