Groups to hold anti-hate rally at Massachusetts Statehouse

BOSTON — More than 30 groups are planning a rally at the Massachusetts Statehouse to denounce hate incidents reported around the country after the election.

Officials with the Anti-Defamation League say the rally is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday and will feature government officials including state Attorney General Maura Healey and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh.

Organizers say the event's message will be that no matter who people supported in the presidential election, hate crimes are not acceptable and do no represent who we are as a city, state or country.

There have been reports of racist and anti-religious incidents around the country since the Nov. 8 election.

Other groups taking part in the rally include the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition.
