Grandmother dragged by two men onto busy street during carjacking

BROCKTON, Mass. — A local grandmother says she was dragged onto a busy street by two men who stole her car.

On Sunday, at around 4 p.m., Marian Grindstaff was sitting in her car smoking a cigarette when she was dragged out of it by two men who had been walking by.

The 50-year-old says she had been sitting in front of her house on Court Street in Brockton when it all happened.

"He just took me and threw me," said Grindstaff. "I thought they were kidding at first. He took my phone, he was shutting my phone off, [saying] give me your car."

As Grindstaff had her hands on the horn, begging for help, her neighbor came out of the house.

"I'm holding onto the steering wheel, and I'm beeping, and beeping," said Grindstaff. "My neighbor came out and the guy said, Don't make me use my gun.'"

Eventually, the thieves were able to steal the car, a 2010 silver Chevy with Massachusetts plates 4EH345. The car has a donut on the front right tire and a dent on the back right.

Grindstaff says her medication was inside her car when it was stolen.

"You just never know," said Grindstaff. "Broad daylight, I'm right here, people driving like this, just, just, don't trust anyone, isn't that sad."

Police have not yet made any arrests in this case.
