Good Samaritans save woman from fire then a fellow rescuer after heart attack

Tom Kehoe and another man named Jay carried a 97-year-old woman from her burning Nashua home on Friday. All because Lariana Garvis spotted the fire on her drive home with her kids from a local park.

“I could see the flames coming out the window, and I immediately stop the car, and there’s a car coming in the direction and I waved him down,” Garvis said.

She flagged down Jay and they ran over. Tom Kehoe and his wife Sharon were already trying to help their neighbor.

“I saw the fire right here and saw the flames coming out of the kitchen,” Sharon Kehoe said.

Sharon said her husband Tom spotted the 97-year-old woman inside. Jay kicked in the door.

“He actually came over and gave it a few good kicks and was able to take it right in,” Garvis said.

The men carried her to safety.

“[They] picked the chair up and carried it over to the Goyette’s side of the yard,” Sharon Kehoe said.

Just then Garvis noticed Tom Kehoe struggling. She rushed over and started CPR.

“I guess you really just don’t forget the sooner the compressions are the most important thing,” Garvis said.

Tom was revived and taken to Lahey clinic.

“He was thankful, he said every time his ribs hurt, he thinks of me,” Garvis said.

His wife Sharon is thankful too that they all helped saved a neighbor and then Garvis saved Tom too.

“She’s an angel, she’s my husband’s angel and without her I’d be making burial arrangements,” Sharon Keough said.
