FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- A Framingham emergency dispatcher is on leave after not following protocol while responding to a mother in distress.
Framingham police say a mother called 911 when her baby was having difficulty breathing and the dispatcher advised her to drive her baby to the hospital instead of calling an ambulance.
The Framingham Fire Department is investigating the matter and in a statement said they have reached out to the family.
“Our thoughts go out to the family. The Chairman of the Board of Selectmen has reached out to the family regarding the incident and to inquire into the baby's condition. The Town is conducting a thorough investigation of this incident and has placed the dispatcher employee who was involved in the call on administrative leave pending the completion of that investigation. Given that this is a personnel matter, we will not comment further at this time.”
