BOSTON - A flight bound for Ireland was diverted to Boston early Tuesday due to an odor in the airplane's cabin.

The United Airlines flight took off from Washington's Dulles International Airport Monday night, just before 10, and was headed to Dublin, Ireland when an "unusual odor" in the cabin prompted flight UAL126 to land at Boston's Logan Airport, a United media spokesperson said.

According to FlightAware.com, a flight-tracking website, the plane was over New Brunswick, Canada, when it made a sharp U-turn and flew to Boston,  landing at 12:35 a.m.

The United spokesperson said the plane was inspected by maintenance crews and the flight is scheduled to depart for Dublin at 6 a.m.
