Fall River man arrested for stealing charity donations

FALL RIVER, Mass. — Guess the Grinch found it’s way down to Fall River this holiday season.

Police in the Bristol County city responded to a breaking and entering report at a hair salon on 598 Brayton Avenue on Sunday, Dec. 1.

At the scene, the manager of Studio Vogue told officers a large sum of money had been taken from the business that was supposed to be donated to the organization Hearts for Hope.

During their investigation, police also found out a nearby business named Monchy Cuts had also been a victim of an attempted break-in.

Detectives combed through surveillance footage from the businesses affected as well as others in the area. With the help of the community and social media, a car involved in the crimes was identified and located.

Through their investigation, police were able to link the car back to David Friedman, 51, of Fall River. Friedman was arrested on Dec. 7, six days after the crime happened.

Friedman is being charged with breaking and entering during the nighttime to commit a felony, larceny from a building and attempted breaking and entering in the nighttime to commit a felony.
