Spencer man dies in Friday night crash on Route 49

SPENCER, Mass. — Spencer Police announced that Cole Victor, 25, of Spencer, Mass. has died as a result of the fiery crash that occurred on Friday night in the town, according to the police department's official Facebook page.

The crash happened on Route 49 in Spencer on Friday night at approximately 9:37 p.m., according to police. Spencer Police, Fire and EMS responded to the scene, aided by State Police and the East Brookfield Fire Department. The other two people involved in the accident were also identified.

Toni Doldo, 23, was the passenger in the 2012 Buick Regal sedan that Victor was driving at the time of the crash. Doldo - Victor's girlfriend - is the owner of the car, and was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, according to Spencer Police.

Erik Anderson, a 43-year-old resident of Spencer, was the owner and operator of the second vehicle involved, a 2012 Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck. Anderson was also transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The area on Route 49 where the crash occurred was shut down for close to five hours as police removed debris from the road and began investigating the crash.

While the investigation is still ongoing, Spencer Police announced their preliminary findings. According to police, Victor's car was traveling north and strayed across the road into the southbound lane, where it struck Anderson's truck. Police are unsure of why Victor's car veered into the opposite lane.

Anderson's truck was fully engulfed in flames when police arrived. The State Police Accident Recognition Unit was called to the scene, as was the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council, who was asked to help reconstruct the crash.
