Driver takes off after crashing into Tewksbury home in the middle of the night

TEWKSBURY, Mass. — A trail of destruction was left behind at a Tewksbury home after a driver crashed into it and took off.

It was the middle of the night when Brian Evangelista says he heard someone crash right into the side of his garage on Shawsheen Street in Tewksbury.

"It was a loud boom. The whole house shook," said Evangelista.

The crash left a gaping hole and the homeowner says this isn't the first time this has happened, but it is the first time the driver left the scene.

"This happened a couple of times before. Usually, people come right up the driveway - you can see the way the road forks, they must think it's part of the road," said Evangelista.

Diane Mackey lives across the street and watched the driver take off. Unfortunately, it was too dark to see much and could only make out it was some sort of SUV.

"He went right up the driveway. Hit that guys house his barrels. I got out and I saw Brian come out of his house and I went over and said, 'Are you ok?'" said Mackey.

Evangelista says he's hopeful someone out there knows something more so whoever did this can reimburse him for the damage.

"They did it. So, they should be paying for it. Or their insurance should be paying for it," said Evangelista.
