Dartmouth police investigating hit-and-run that left 33-year-old woman dead

DARTMOUTH, Mass. — Police along the south coast are searching for a hit-and-run driver that killed a mother along a busy stretch of road in Dartmouth.

According to the woman’s mother, the 33-year-old victim from Westport had a 6-year-old daughter.

Stasha Lynn Faria was walking along Route 6 in Dartmouth around 7 p.m. Saturday when she was hit and killed.

Faria’s mother told the Boston Herald that her daughter was a beautiful person inside and out, and she believes if the driver had stopped, she might still be alive.

She said even if it was an accident at first, it’s not an accident anymore. And she said the right things to do is for the driver to turn themselves in.

Faria has been staying at a motel on that road with her boyfriend for a few weeks.

People working in the area said they don’t like walking or running on the busy highway.

“I don’t run on Route 6 anymore,” Joshua Camara said. “I’ve seen some accidents there and I’ve seen some pretty bad drivers driving on the side of the road. So, I stay away from Route 6.”

Police haven’t released any information on the type of car they’re looking for, but are asking anyone who may have seen anything from the area Saturday night to give police a call.
