DA: Domestic violence suspect shot, killed by Westborough police officer

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — One person is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Westborough, Worcester County District Attorney Joesph Early says.

According to Early, Westborough Police and Fire were called to an ongoing domestic violence incident just after noon on Friday at the Windsor Ridge Luxury Townhouses.

"I don't know if there's an outside person there or people who live in that house but everyone here part of the scrutiny is your background check and you have certain rules about firearms and no violent behavior," said Mary Christensen, a neighbor.

Early says as first responders arrived to the scene, they found a domestic violence incident that was "still in progress."

Neighbors say they heard gunshots and saw several officers going in and out of the home.

From there, Early says, officers got out of their vehicles and one officer fired several shots, killing the suspect in the domestic violence incident.

The DA did not disclose if police had responded to this home before, but did say this was an isolated incident.

"It's very unusual, it's a very quiet place and the people here are very considerate of each other so had the police not gotten here someone in the neighborhood someone would've stepped in," said Christiansen.

Both the victim and the police officer who fired the shots to the hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.

The gender of either the attacker who died or the domestic violence victim who is now in the hospital remains unclear.

Mass. State Police and the Worcester DA are investigating, but the Westborough Police Chief says this incident was not random.

No additional information was released.
