NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Police in Connecticut say a New Haven officer was nearly killed in a shootout Monday.
Investigators say Captain Anthony Duff was off duty when he interrupted a shooting.
One man was shot and killed in the altercation and another fired at Duff as he approached.
New Haven's police chief says Duff was hit multiple times and rushed to the operating room.
Several agencies looking for the man who shot & killed another man.

Then, shot New Haven Capt. Anthony Duff many times. Duff survived.

Doctors say he will be okay thanks in part to other officers who arrived at the scene and were able to get tourniquets on him before medics arrived.
Police are still searching for the gunman.
