Commuter train destroys unoccupied car on tracks in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Mass. — An unoccupied car on the train tracks was hit and demolished by an MBTA train Thursday night.

Lincoln Police said they got multiple 911 calls just after 11 p.m. about a disabled car on the tracks near South Great Road and Old Sudbury Road crossings.

Shortly after, a passing commuter rail train struck the car at Old Sudbury Road, police said.

Police said no one was injured and they confirmed it was unoccupied but did not say why the car was on the tracks or if the occupants remained at the scene.

Lincoln Police said MBTA transit police are handling the investigation.
