Chelmsford man charged with 7th OUI

CHELMSFORD, Mass. — A Chelmsford man was charged with his seventh DUI following a crash Friday morning.

Police said around 10 a.m. Friday, an officer on patrol spotted a 1980 red Corvette that had crashed into a mailbox and utility pole near 181 Concord St.

While assisting the driver, who had suffered minor injuries, police said it was determined he was intoxicated.

Police identified the driver as 39-year-old Francis Harrison; they said he refused a blood test while at the hospital being treated for his injuries.

Harrison was charged his OUI, seventh offense, driving negligently so as to endanger, speeding, seatbelt violation and marked lanes violation

The utility pole was snapped at its base and the vehicle sustained heavy damage.

Police said Harrison's license was confiscated and the Registry of Motor Vehicles was notified of the new charges and has suspended his license.
