Buttigieg speaks in NH fresh after strong showing in Iowa

MERRIMACK, N.H. — Voters in New Hampshire waited in the rain and near freezing weather for over an hour to greet Pete Buttigieg, as many were shut out because of space.

Buttigieg did come over to apologize to them, before delivering a campaign speech.

“To every voter who came here (to hear my) speak, I just want you to know how much I appreciate it and that I hope we’re able to continue to connect as we go,” Buttigieg said.

With that, Buttigieg hopped back into his black SUV and was dropped off around the corner at the American Legion in Merrimack, making a speech inside a packed room with over 200 people. According to campaign workers, the room got warm, quickly.

“I was here at, I don’t know, a little after 1 o’clock, we were all standing by the door, you know I’m stomping my feet five minutes goes by I go, God, I wish I was back outside,” said Don Lanoue of Hollis, New Hampshire.

Lanoue says Buttigieg is the right fit because of his experience in the military.

“It’s because of his military training, he’s methodical, he thinks things through he knows the right answer to answer a question,” said Lanoue.

Buttigieg spoke about improving the lives of active duty and retired military members from their health care to housing, removing white nationalists from military ranks and providing more student loan debt help for veterans and their families.
