Brockton Police searching for armed robbery suspect after shots fired

BROCKTON, Mass. — Three men were arrested in connection with an armed robbery that took place Saturday evening in Brockton, according to a release from the city's police department. Law enforcement are currently searching for a fourth man involved in the crime, who still remains at large.

Brockton Police arrested Stephan Stewart, 26, Dennis Martin, 23, and Darius Carter, 27. Police were able to capture the three men after they abandoned their vehicle.

Police were initially called to a robbery at a Brockton T-Mobile store just after 7 p.m. on Saturday night in the area of 521 Belmont St. Four men allegedly entered the store and began assaulting a clerk while robbing the T-Mobile, according to the release.

That clerk was transported to an area hospital and is expected to be okay.

Brockton PD immediately conducted a manhunt for the four suspects, leading them to the southeast section of the city in the area of Carl Avenue. There, the suspects allegedly opened fire at a police cruiser while they attempted to flee the white Chevrolet they were traveling in.

No one was struck or injured by the shots fired.

The suspects were charged with multiple offenses, including armed and masked robbery, as well as assault.

For four hours, law enforcement searched for the fourth suspect after arresting the three others. Police instructed residents to stay inside during the ordeal.

"It was kind of crazy – all of a sudden we were watching tv and we had like 10 or 15 police officers running through the yard with flashlights – it was crazy," said Suzanne Kelly of Brockton.

"Pretty frightening – and you’ll hear every neighbor say this for sure- they’ve never seen anything like it," said Richard Nagle, a fellow resident of the city.

Police were unable to locate the fourth suspect; the search is still ongoing. Officials did recover two guns from the scene.
