Two people hospitalized following shooting in Brockton

BROCKTON, Mass. — Brockton Police are investigating after a Wednesday afternoon shooting in the city injured two men. The shooting happened inside a Holiday Inn in Brockton, according to Plymouth County DA Timothy Cruz.

When police first arrived at the scene, they found a 19-year-old man outside the T-Mobile store on Westgate Mall suffering from a non-fatal gunshot wound. Emergency crews rushed the man to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton. A source tells Boston 25 News that victim was shot in the arm.

A second victim, who DA Cruz says is a 21-year-old man, was brought to the ER by someone else, and had been suffering from life-threatening injuries.

“Good Samaritan Hospital notified the Brockton PD of another male brought into the emergency room suffering from an apparent gunshot wound," said DA Cruz. "He was treated and transported to a Boston hospital where he remains for treatment.”

According to police, this was a random act of violence. They say it happened inside the hotel just after 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, but it’s still unclear if the two men shot each other.

Currently, police aren’t saying if they’re looking for any suspects.
