Brady: 'I certainly expect to be here next year'

BOSTON — Tom Brady says he has ‘long term’ goals to keep playing as long as he can.

The quarterback rejoined Boston radio station WEEI for a weekly interview Tuesday morning and said he expects to keep playing as long as he is able to perform his best.

“I certainly expect to be here next year and hopefully beyond,” he said in the interview. “I have goals to play for a long time. I still love doing it, I still want to do it and that’s – you know but I’m also focused on what I need to do this year.”

Brady has been the Patriots’ starting quarterback since 2001 and it doesn’t look like he has plans to change that any time soon.

“I still want to get out there and do the best I can for our team,” he said. “I’m always trying to take good care of myself. I’m always trying to put myself in a position where I can execute my job and take the hits and perform well and I think I’ve got a really great routine and I ‘d like to continue to show that I can do it.”

Brady joined the WEEI show Tuesday morning for the first time since he hung up on the show the week before the Super Bowl after a remark by a host about his daughter.
