Suspects accused of shooting, critically injuring man to be arraigned Monday

BOSTON — Boston Police have arrested two men they say are suspects in a shooting that left another man in critical condition.

Officers responded to a call for a person shot in the area of 530 Warren Street in Roxbury at around 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

At the scene, police found the victim, identified only as an adult man, who appeared to have been shot. He was transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition.

As they canvassed the area, officers saw two young men running away from the scene as they jumped over a fence on Humboldt Avenue.

Officers eventually caught up with the suspects, arresting them after being interviewed by detectives.

Dashawn Price, 23, of Roxbury and Jean Cassamajor, 18, of Dorchester, are both being charged with armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh says he's glad the pair were arrested, but says he is most concerned by how young the suspects are.

"Last night the two suspects were on the younger side – you know they're not babies, but there's certainly concern that some of the program we have is targeted at the population of this age, and I think we have to continue to do more to reach out to people," Mayor Walsh said.

Both suspects are set to appear in Roxbury District Court on Monday.

"Whether it's 2 in the morning or 2 in the afternoon, it doesn't really matter at this point," Mayor Walsh said. "We need to get these shootings down to zero."
