BPD arrest double murder suspect who hid out in Georgia

On Friday, Boston Police arrested a man in Georgia suspected of committing two murders in Boston six months ago, according to a pair of statements from police officials.

Nicholas Antoine, 20, of Roxbury was apprehended by members of the BPD Fugitive Apprehension Unit and Homicide Unit, along with officials from law enforcement in Georgia and members of the U.S. Marshals. Arresting officers captured Antoine in Jonesboro, Ga., placing him in custody at an area trailer park.

Antoine was charged with two counts of murder stemming from the alleged shooting of a pair of Massachusetts men back on June 30.

According to the official release from Boston Police, BPD received a call for two people shot around Faneuil and Bracket Street in Brighton on that summer day. Upon police arrival, two males – later identified as Wilfred Peters, 26, of Brighton and Jeffrey Montague, 27, of Cambridge – were located and pronounced dead on the scene from gunshot wounds.

“Members of the Homicide and Fugitive Units worked tirelessly on this case to not only identify the suspect who was responsible, but to track him down and arrest him while he was hiding in a trailer park in Georgia,” Police Commissioner William Gross was quoted as saying in the official statement.

“I commend the great work of the Homicide Unit and the Fugitive Apprehension Unit for bringing justice to the families who lost their loved ones.”

Antoine was also wanted on counts of ammunition without a firearms identification card, possession of a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, and carrying a firearm without a license, according to the release from the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia.
