BOSTON - A Boston firefighter accused of raping children has been rushed to the hospital from the Suffolk County Jail, according to officials.

Samuel Perez, 38, was found in 'medical distress' around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning, officials told Boston 25 News.

A young woman told Boston 25 News Tuesday she was violated by Perez as a child. She says she’s been living with shame and anger for more than a decade now and had lost hope that the Boston Firefighter would ever be held accountable.

The alleged abuse happened over the course of several years, according to a release from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

The Boston Fire Department confirmed Monday Perez was a firefighter assigned in 2011 to Engine Company 10 on Purchase Street.

Officers immediately began performing CPR and Emergency Medical Services were activated when he was found Wednesday morning.

He was taken to a hospital and there has been no word on his condition.
