BOSTON — Boston EMS says four people at a day care were taken to the hospital Wednesday.
Authorities tell Boston 25 News the people were at Bright Horizons day care on Berkeley Street. Parents tell us they were notified via text message that emergency crews were called to the center. The text referred to the response as an isolated incident, but didn't go into further detail as to what happened.
Initial reports indicated 911 was called after staff members noticed several children developing spots and not feeling well.
One staff member, who asked to not be identified, told Boston 25 News that those taken to the hospital were children who had been in close proximity to a sink that may have had some type of cleaner in it.
Bright Horizons said in a statement to Boston 25 News that several children were using the sink in the toddler room when teachers noticed them developing an irritation on their skin. "We immediately called emergency services and the children received medical attention," the statement said, adding the day care is "in close communication with families at the center while we try to determine a cause for what happened."
