3 students hospitalized after being evacuated from Boston church

BOSTON — A church in Boston was evacuated Friday morning after eight students reported not feeling well at a mass with students and adults.

Three of those students have been taken to an area hospital for evaluation.

Boston firefighters received reports at around 10:40 a.m. that one student had fainted while seven others complained of light-headedness and illness at Holy Name Church in West Roxbury.

According to the Archdiocese, a prayer service was underway at Holy Name Church for five schools with a Eucharistic Holy Hour when two to three students started feeling ill.

As a precaution, the fire chief had the students and adults evacuate the church.

The health of the other students who reported not feeling well was deemed non-life threatening. The Archdiocese says all children are safe and they have no confirmation there was anything wrong in the building.

A haz mat team called to the scene to check the air quality classified the air quality as fine.
