Body found in Eastham identified as missing 47-year-old

EASTHAM, Mass. — The body of a missing person was found in a wooded area in Eastham on Sunday morning, police say.

Eastham Police responded to the area near Hemenway Landing for a report of an unconscious person around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Officers determined the man found was deceased, and that he was the subject of an investigation for a missing person that had been going on for days.

The search was suspended Friday night at around 9:30 p.m. due to lack of visibility and exhaustion, and was suspended again after no results came in Saturday's search.

Eastham Police and the Massachusetts State Police are investigating the incident, and police say foul play is not suspected.

The name of the individual has not yet been released.
