Autopsy: Fetus remains found at NH wastewater treatment facility

CONWAY, N.H. — The human remains discovered at a New Hampshire pumping station last week are that of a fetus, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General.

On Feb. 5, Conway, New Hampshire Police were called to the Conway wastewater treatment facility after "fully intact human remains" were found.

The medical examiner conducted an autopsy and classified the remains as a fetus. The medical examiner "determined that the fetus had not taken a breath, was not viable, and that the pregnancy loss was the result of a spontaneous natural miscarriage."

Officials say they still believe the remains arrived at the facility through the sewer system.

The investigation is ongoing. Authorities are still working to locate the mother to ensure her health and welfare.

Anyone with information is asked to call Conway Police at (603)356-5715.
