A look inside the Wynn Casino now under construction in Everett

SOMERVILLE, Mass. — The Wynn Boston Harbor is just a hole in the ground and a foundation now, but the people behind it say it’s going to be a spectacular sight in the future.

We hopped on board with the property’s president, Bob DiSalvio, to see the progress.

“We're currently finishing off the foundation of the site,” DiSalvio said. “We wanted to establish a firm footprint for the building.”

That footprint spans 13 acres.

The hotel will face the Boston Skyline along the banks of the Mystic River.

“On our right hand side and it's a curved tower and that tower goes up 27 stories,” DiSalvio said, explaining the layout.

The company is still tweaking the design on the inside of the building, but DiSalvio gave FOX25 a look at some of the renderings of what the $2.1 billion project will look like.%

But after months of public legal wrangling with Somerville, DiSalvio says the relationship has simmered down.

“We feel like we're in a pretty good place with Somerville and the cooperation is going well,” he said.

The company is on target for an opening of June 3, 2019.%

DiSalvio says the biggest focus now is the jobs. About 320 people work on-site now, and 200 will be added before the end of the year. Next year, about 1,500 more are expected.

Even after that, there will be 4,000 permanent jobs, the company says.

“For us, it's all about getting people to work and getting this thing up and running,” said DiSalvio. “We can't wait to show off Wynn Boston Harbor to our guests.”%
