DUXBURY, Mass. — A swimmer has died after being pulled from the water in Duxbury.
Just after noon on Monday, police were called to the beach on Ship Yard Lane for a "swimmer in distress."
People on kayaks and paddleboards saw the 72-year-old man about 100-yards off the beach and pulled him to safety.
"They were able to pull the individual, identified as a 72-year-old male to the shoreline, they did some CPR until he was transported," said Duxbury Police Chief Stephen McDonald.
The man was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
His identity has not yet been released. Police are still trying to figure out if he was swimming alone, or if he with someone.
