500 tips roll in about Princeton jogger murder

PRINCETON, Mass. — State Police said that there has been a steady flow of tips about the murder of a young woman in Princeton.

As of Friday afternoon, there have been 500 tips related to Vanessa Marcotte's death. The 27-year-old was killed Sunday afternoon while out on a jog near Brooks Station Road.

State Police remind the public about the specific request for tips about any men who had injuries similar to a struggle. That includes scratches, bruises, cuts, gouge marks etc., marks that would have been fresh earlier this week. Police said Marcotte and the assailant fought before her death.

Police are also asking people if they remember any vehicles moving or parked on Brooks Station Road between 1 and 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Marcotte was in town from New York City visiting her mother. She grew up in Leominster and attended Boston University.

At Wachusett Ski Resort, 10 minutes down the road from where her body was found, there was a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon.

Westminster police have sent video from cruisers to state police, hoping the cruisers may have recorded a car fleeing the area.
