LOWELL, Mass. — Police in Lowell are investigating after a child was hit by a vehicle on Marshall Avenue while trick or treating Monday night.

According to police, there were quite a few trick-or-treaters, and the 4-year-old boy was with his parents when he was hit while crossing the road around 7:15 p.m.

FOX25 has learned the boy has a serious cut on his head and was taken to Lowell General Hospital before being transferred to Tufts in Boston.

The driver of the vehicle stopped a short distance later and spoke to people at the scene then got back in her car and drove away. A witness followed the car and was able to give police a description.
