4 people charged with armed robbery of homeless person in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Four people are charged with robbing a homeless person in Cambridge at knife-point early Monday morning, according to police.

Police said four people walked up to the victim, who was trying to go to sleep on the sidewalk on JFK Street.

According to police, one of the men brandished a knife and hit the victim on the side of the face with a metal chair. The group them rummaged through the victim’s stuff and stole $40 in cash and a cell phone.

The victim gave officers a description of the suspects. They found the two men a short distance away. Officers responding to an unrelated alarm call located the two women.

The victim positively identified all four suspects: 
•    Courtland Hall, 18, 147 Willow Street, Cambridge 
•    Darren Jones, 24, 112 South Hampton Street, Boston
•    Kathryn McCallan, 35, homeless
•    Tiffany Savage, 45, 85 Harvey Street, Cambridge

Police arrested all four suspects and charged them with armed robbery.

Hall was also charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon since he the one accused of brandishing the knife and hitting the victim with the metal chair.

The victim was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
