1 dead, 1 seriously hurt after being hit by car in Dedham

DEDHAM, Mass. — One person has died and another was seriously hurt Thursday evening after being hit by a car in Dedham, police chief Michael D'Entremont told Boston 25 News.

The man who was hit on Bridge Street, outside of the Brickhouse Café, just before 8 p.m.​​​​​​, died from his injuries at ​Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, D'Entremont said. No information on the condition of the other person who was hit, a woman, who was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital with serious injuries, was available, he said.

The man who died was later identified as 62-year-old Bijan Ghayour of Dover.

According to police, the driver of the car stopped and stayed at the scene.

Dedham Police, Massachusetts State Police and the Norfolk County District Attorney's office are all investigating the crash.
