2 arrested for robbing, assaulting 60-year-old woman

NORWOOD, Mass. — Police in Norwood have arrested two men for allegedly robbing and assaulting a 60-year-old woman on Tuesday evening.

Authorities received a call for a robbery at the commuter rail stop at the Windsor Gardens apartment complex at around 5:40 p.m.

At the scene, a 60-year-old woman reported she had been robbed by two men as they all sought shelter from the rain at the train station.

The woman said the two men demanded she hand over her purse, punched her several times in the face, pushed her against the wall and threatened to kill her.

While the two men made off with the bag, the victim snapped a picture of them as they ran away, which confirmed the clothing description she gave to police.

Officers patrolled the area in search for the suspects and the MBTA even briefly halted train service in the area to assist with the efforts.

Police were able to locate the two suspects and brought the victim for a show-up, a procedure where police bring the witness to the area to identify the suspects. After the woman confirmed the two men were the suspects, they were arrested.

Upon booking, officers found cocaine and marijuana on one of the suspects, along with drug packaging and a digital scale. Each of them were also carrying several hundred dollars in cash.

Police arrested Naeem Miles, 21, of Boston and Adilson Fernandes, 20, of Dorchester and charged them with unarmed robbery, assault and battery on a person over 60 and conspiracy. Miles was additionally charged with possession of classes B and D with intent to distribute.
