16-year-old arrested after police say he refused to stop in rented U-Haul

STERLING, Mass. — A 16-year-old has been arrested an charged after police say he lead police in a chase through Worcester and Sterling in a rented U-Haul van.

Police say they initially tried to stop the van for what they say was an unsafe lane change along Route 290 in Worcester.

According to officers, the van then took off and evaded police until it crahsed in Sterling after running over a tire deflation device.

Police say two juveniles in the van have not been charged, but one, who they say fled the scene, has been charged with driving without a license, failure to stop and speeding.
