Driver shot, critically wounded on North Shore Road in Revere

REVERE, Mass. — One man suffered life-threatening injuries after being shot while driving a vehicle on North Shore Road in Revere, Massachusetts State Police said.

In a release, MSP said the 34-year-old victim is from out-of-state and remains in critical condition at Mass. General Hospital.

Police received a report of a shooting in the area of North Shore Road and Shawmut Street at around 5:16 p.m. Friday.

When officers arrived, they found a male victim in a vehicle in the southbound lane of North Shore Road. He was taken to a Boston hospital where remained in critical condition late Friday night, police said.

Sky25 video captured investigators as they focused on a white, two-door Infiniti with its doors open and windshield glass shattered. The victim was shot while he was driving south on Route 1A in Revere.

"I heard like a shot, but the sound wasn't very loud like gunshots," said Anik Rahman, who recorded the incident on a cell phone. "I ran outside and saw two holes in the window."

Two men tried to help the victim following the shooting.

Police shut down Route 1A at Butler Circle as crews investigated the shooting. Blue Line service in the area was also affected.

Investigators scoured the area looking for clues before taking surveillance video from a nearby store.

"This never happened before and [it's] on the middle of the street so everybody is scared," said Nezmul Kabir, the store owner. "I too am scared."

Police are looking to speak with motorists who were in the area at the time of the shooting or who may have witnessed the shooting or any type of altercation between vehicles in that area.
