Second fatality confirmed in crash that ejected 11 along I-95 in Attleboro

ATTLEBORO, Mass. — Mass. State Police announced that a second person has died due to a crash on Interstate 95 southbound in Attleboro that threw eleven people from a car Saturday afternoon.

Both victims from the crash are adult males, according to police. Neither victim's identity has been released at this time.

Troopers were on the scene to shut down traffic as debris from the crash littered the roadway and emergency responders showed up to rescue passengers.

According to officials, the incident occurred when a 2018 Toyota RAV 4 struck a 2004 Ford Econoline van while both were traveling North on I-95 in Attleboro.

After both vehicles crossed over the median, the van rolled over, ejecting all eleven occupants before coming to rest on the I-95 South breakdown lane. The two victims were occupants of the van that rolled over.

No cars were getting through in the initial aftermath of the wreck, but Mass. State Police said they would update traffic conditions as the investigation and cleanup progressed.

The driver of the Toyota RAV 4 was also transported to a Rhode Island hospital with minor injuries. Police described the driver as a 32-year-old woman from East Providence.

The van was a part of a tour group servicing the Polish-American community, officials say. People from New York, Philadelphia and New Jersey were on board the van as it was en route to touring various places around Massachusetts before the crash.
