BOSTON STRONG BLOOD DRIVE

Join Boston 25 Cares and the American Red Cross for the Boston Strong Blood Drive on Sunday, April 15th  from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sheraton Boston Hotel, 39 Dalton Street.  The annual blood drive pays tribute to lives lost and the strength and resiliency shown by so many following the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombings. In April 2013, the Red Cross sent 600 blood products to Boston area hospitals in response to two bombs that exploded near the marathon finish line. Volunteer blood donations helped save hundreds of lives that day as first responders and bystanders ran toward the blast to help the injured.

The Boston Strong Blood Drive also brings community members together for the One Boston Day annual Day of Service. From cleaning up parks, to donating blood, or simply helping out a neighbor in need, One Boston Day has become an annual tradition filled with countless acts of kindness and shared messages of unity and perseverance.

HOW TO DONATE BLOOD
Simply visit  redcrossblood.org and enter the Sponsor Code BOSTONSTRONG, or download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver's license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Blood and platelet donors can save time at their next donation by using RapidPass® to complete their pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online, on the day of their donation, before arriving at the blood drive. To get started, follow the instructions at redcrossblood.org/RapidPass or use the Blood Donor App.
