Former Patriots quarterback and current 49ers starter Jimmy Garoppolo is reportedly out of the season after tearing his ACL against the Chiefs on Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
49ers fans were left with a bitter taste after the 38-27 loss, with the looming loss of their quarterback becoming the bigger talking point from the day.
Garoppolo was carted to the locker room after an apparent non-contact injury while running the ball in the fourth quarter, and the concern rapidly grew.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Sunday that the team feared it was an ACL tear for Garoppolo, which would likely end his season.
