Want to own your own fire truck? Peabody surplus auction offers up retired vehicles

PEABODY, Mass. — If you've dreamed of owning your own firetruck or turning a school bus into a traveling tiny home, here's your chance.

The city of Peabody is auctioning off 35 surplus vehicles online, including a fire truck, school buses, ambulances and even a fire pumper.

Some vehicles have bids as low as $110 and many of those up for auction note that it's unknown if they run or even start.

According to the auction site, bids will be accepted until Feb. 28 at 6:30 p.m. and are accepted online only. Prospective buyers can get a look at the vehicles at the former public works facility at the rear of Berry Street, off Warren Street, on Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. and at the Department of Public Works property at 50 Farm Ave. from 10 a.m. to noon.
