Child critically injured, 5 others hurt in serious 2-car crash

BOSTON — A serious crash involving two cars in Dorchester sent six people - including three children - to the hospital late on Saturday night. At least one of the child victims is in critical condition, fighting for their life.

The crash happened on Columbia Road near Hamilton Street at around 11:30 p.m. It's unclear currently if either driver was at fault.

Debra Neloms-Sow said her son is still shaken up after he helped save a young family trapped after the crash.

"He said, 'I see the car smoking, I have to get them out,'" said Neloms-Sow, quoting her son. "I guess he crashed through a window to get them out 'cause I guess the doors locked. So, he was grabbing whoever he could to get them out."

Neloms-Sox added that cars were left mangled and the street was closed for hours as authorities responded. She added that her son and she are praying for the people involved.

No charges or arrests have been made at this time. Police, who have not yet released the names of anyone involved, continue to actively investigate the incident.
