State police: Driver dies on I-91 crash in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - State police say the driver of an SUV that went out of control on a Massachusetts highway has died.

Police in a statement said the Toyota Highlander was headed south on Interstate 91 in Springfield at about 10 p.m. Monday when it struck the guardrail on the left, then swerved across all three travel lanes and struck the guardrail on the right.

The driver and sole occupant was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The operator was described as an adult male but no name was released. The crash is still under investigation.
