MUST SEE: Hingham student chorus surprise serenades teacher & his fiancé

HINGHAM, Mass. — A group of middle school chorus students in Hingham surprised their teacher and his husband-to-be during their wedding rehearsal brunch.

The students sang a rendition of the Beatles “All You Need Is Love” before Christopher Landis and his now-husband Joe Michienzie.

The Hingham Middle School Junior Choral Spectrum got together every Sunday night for a month to practice.

Landis instantly broke down in tears when he saw his students enter the room.

“You guys are supposed to be in school,” Landis said to the students, while pointing at his watch. “How did you guys get out?”

Landis then introduced his guests to the students.

“We just love you so much,” one of the parent organizers told Landis. “We really wanted to do something special for you.”

Landis told Boston 25 News he always knew how lucky he was to be given the opportunity to teach him Hingham six years ago.

“This heartfelt expression of joy, acceptance, and most of all - love - shown by the families, students and fellow faculty members is just a testament to how lucky I truly am.” Landis said. “I am so grateful and fortunate to work in a place where love and acceptance is a cornerstone of the education process.”

A video of the touching moment, posted on the Hingham Public Schools Facebook page, has been viewed more than 425,000 times in just four days.
