MBTA offers commuters sneak peek at new Red Line cars

BOSTON — The Red Line is getting a major facelift.

The public has a chance to check out the interior and exterior of a model Red Line train car ahead of the MBTA's replacement of the entire fleet.

Until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, a mock Red Line car will be on display at City Hall Plaza for the public to tour.

A factory in Springfield will be manufacturing the 252 new Red Line train cars that will be replacing the entire fleet by 2023.

The MBTA is already in the process of replacing Green and Orange Line trains.
