Mass. economy ranks 13th in U.S. for growth, tops New England

BOSTON — Massachusetts is one of the states leading America's charge when it comes to growing the economy, according to a study from GoBankingRates.com.

The website compared the growth of each state's products and services (GDP) from the end of 2018 to the beginning of 2019 along with average month-over-month growth.

Massachusetts' GDP grew 2.7 percent from 2018-2019 and averaged 2.6 percent growth each month in that time. According to the study, that puts Massachusetts 13th in a ranking of states by economic growth.

North Dakota led the nation in growth, due largely to its burgeoning oil and gas sector.

Massachusetts edged out New Hampshire, which came it at number 14, to lead all New England states in recent economic growth.
