‘I would give my life’: Cape Cod mother desperate to find missing son one month after disappearance

FALMOUTH, Mass. — A $1,000 reward is being offered for information about the location of a Falmouth man who went missing nearly a month ago, and his mother is appealing to the public to help find her son.

“It’s been a nightmare. It’s been a nightmare,” Peggy Lynn, Adam’s mother told Boston 25 News.

Peggy has been looking for her son Adam Wacholder, 44, who was last seen on June 13.

“I’ve scoured every inch of his apartment. I’ve taken apart both closets from top to bottom. I’ve scoured every inch of the clothes in every drawer, looking for clues, looking for something,” Lynn said.

Peggy said Adam lives with epilepsy and a mental health condition, but he leads an active life, holding down a supermarket job and socializing with a small group of friends.

On June 13th, Adam had lunch at the local 99 restaurant before a friend drove him home. And then he disappeared.

Adam did not keep a series of appointments scheduled for that afternoon, said Peggy.

“Whether he had any other plans for that afternoon, I don’t know. But I do know that afternoon he had an appointment with a therapist, he had an appointment with Urgent Care and he did not keep either one,” Peggy said.

Peggy said Adam’s cell phone and laptop were found in his apartment, but it appears Adam took his keys, wallet, and medication with him.

But where did Adam go?

Peggy spoke to her son two days before his disappearance and she said everything appeared fine.

“I detected nothing. We’ve been living with this for 20 years. So, I’ve gotten pretty good at being able to tell when things aren’t OK. That’s what is so surprising about this, and so confusing about this,” Peggy Lynn said.

Peggy said Falmouth Police and State Police are amongst the team searching for her son. He is described as standing 6 feet, 1 inch tall, weighing 220 pounds, with brown eyes, brown and white hair, and wearing glasses.

A Facebook page, “Find Adam Wacholder,” has also been created as the family awaits his safe return.

As each day passes, Peggy grows more desperate for answers.

“I would give my life just to know he’s somewhere, and he’s alive. I would give my life for that. This is my son,” Peggy said.

Adam’s medication is about to run out, so there is a real concern for his well-being.

“He is a gentle soul, might be shy if you approach him but very friendly and completely harmless. If you see him, please tell Adam his family is looking for him,” states a post on the Facebook page dedicated to finding him.

Anyone who sees Adam or knows of his whereabouts is urged to call Falmouth Police at 774-255-4527.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
