MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — Crews responded to a broken gas line in Marlborough Thursday morning
The Marlborough Fire Dept. says it responded to a broken gas line at Brigham Street and Leoleis Drive on Thursday morning after a paving crew working on replacing the road and sidewalk hit a 2" gas line.
"We had crews doing some roadwork construction. They struck a 2" gas line," said Marlborough Fire Asst. Chief Jeffrey Gogan.
Eversource, which provides service to the area, responding and shut off the gas while the break was capped.

Eversource crews then went around with gas meters checking gas inside homes. About a half dozen homes were evacuated but were let back inside soon after.
"Two homes they found a very low, small amount of gas. And they ventilated the homes," said Gogan.
Fire officials say were no reported fires.

Residents say the incident was a little unsettling a week after the tragedies in the Merrimack Valley.
"It's a little nerve-racking for sure. You have to be real careful with gas. You have to be careful," said resident Dan Jalonski.
