Hingham restaurant broken into, cinder blocks removed to gain entry

HINGHAM, Mass. — Hingham Police are investigating a break-in at a restaurant that happened Sunday morning.

Employees at the Scarlet Oak Tavern on Main Street called police around 6:15 a.m. Sunday after they arrived at work and discovered the restaurant had been broken into.

Officers found the alarm wires outside had been cut.

The suspect(s) got into the restaurant by removing several cinder blocks from the basement.

Police said the suspect(s) forced open an office door and tried to open the safe, but were unsuccessful. It’s unclear if anything was taken.
