FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — Reports of a 'possibly armed' man in nearby the McAuliffe Charter School in Framingham prompted the school to go into "safe mode" on Thursday morning.

According to Framingham Police, authorities were searching the area of Speen and Newbury streets for a man wearing a black, gray and red checkered shirt and possibly carrying a weapon.

While the individual was not spotted on school grouds, the charter school was placed on "safe mode" as a precaution.

The school's "safe mode" has since been lifted.
