NEWTON, Mass. — Three cars collided on Route 9 eastbound and apparently knocked over a transformer, according to the Newton Fire Department.
The HAZ-Mat teams were called in to address the leaking transformer. The eastbound lanes were shut down and were expected to remain closed until the damaged pole could be replaced.
Images showed the pole hanging over the road. Officials said it would affect traffic for at least two hours.
